SPACE Day featuring Barlow Planetarium & Appleton Public Library

About this event

Bring your students on a journey into SPACE with our two part day at the Appleton Public Library & Barlow Planetarium! We will visit 8 different planets, see some of the most interesting moons, and take a tour of the current night time sky. Have space food snacks, make a space craft, and watch a classic show of the Magic School Bus: Lost in Space.

About the Day

This is an exciting 2 part day as we explore space together!

First: We will gather at the Appleton Public Library where we will start our space exploration through books, snacks, planet crafts, and a short showing of the Magic School Bus: Lost in Space .

Second: We will travel 10 mins up the road to the Barlow Planetarium where we will have our own private show of space exploration visiting the planets and their moons! Afterwards we will enjoy lunch together on site with sack lunches.

Field Trip Details

WHERE: Location 1: Appleton Public Library, 200 N Appleton St, Appleton, WI 54911 Location 2: Barlow Planetarium, 1478 Midway Rd, Menasha, WI 54952

WHEN: November 18th, 2026 9:20am- arrive at Appleton Public Library for books, snacks, crafts, and Magic School Bus 11:30am- depart Library and drive 10 mins to Barlow Planetarium 11:45am- check-in, use restroom, etc.

12:00pm- Showing of Solar System Exploration 1:00pm- Sack Lunch on site

ARRIVAL: Please arrive by 9:20 to park and get checked in at Library. The Library opens at 9am so no admittance prior.

PARKING: Parking at the Library will have a small fee during our time there. You can park in the parking lot or street. Both are the same price. Instructions on site for how to pay. For parking at Barlow, please enter the lot off of Midway Road, you will drive up the entrance and then see the lot on your left hand side.

WHO CAN ATTEND: Each Pella Hill student may attend with up to two adults , and siblings of Pella Hill students are also welcome to join us for FREE.

Additional guests who are not Pella Hill students or their siblings are welcome to attend at the following rates:

Guest: Adults & Children $10

What to Bring

• Water bottle

• Sack Lunch

• Astronaut helmet ;)

• A curious spirit ready to explore!

LUNCH: We have reserved a room at the planetarium for us to enjoy lunch together after our showing!

A minimum of 40 participants is needed for this trip to take place. Please register as soon as you’re able so we can confirm that we have enough participants and plan accordingly. We hope you can join us!
