About this event
Join Elyse Zorn Karlin, guest curator of Chicago Collects: Jewelry in Perspective, for an engaging presentation that brings the exhibition’s extraordinary objects to life. Drawn from the Richard H. Driehaus Collection and other notable Chicago-area collections, the exhibition features 200 rare and exceptional works that reveal jewelry as far more than adornment—it is art, history, identity, innovation, and personal expression.
With the insight of a curator, author, and lifelong collector, Karlin will share what compelled her to select these remarkable pieces and explore the stories they carry. Travel through more than three centuries of design, from the flowing forms of Art Nouveau and the handcrafted beauty of Arts & Crafts to the glamour of the Belle Époque, the bold geometry of Art Deco, the technical brilliance of Fabergé, and the creativity of contemporary studio jewelry.
Karlin’s presentation offers a unique opportunity to see Chicago Collects through the eyes of the person who shaped its vision. Whether you are a jewelry enthusiast, art lover, history buff, or simply curious about the objects on view at the Oshkosh Public Museum, you will leave with a deeper appreciation for the craftsmanship, cultural influences, and human stories held within these miniature works of art.
