🏘️ Community
Repairs on Calder Stadium in Menasha advanced after a July tornado damaged the bleachers and football practice resumed this past weekend.
The Menasha Joint School District plans to finish repairs this fall so kids can play games next season (using original 1963 plans).
🎓 Education
The Oneida Nation’s Oneida Reads program earned a national honor and a $10,000 award from the Library of Congress for offering free tutoring that boosts early reading skills and aims for 100% grade-level proficiency by third grade (launched in Aug.
2024). Leaders say strong community support helped the program grow.
Residents in Oshkosh can name the new westside middle school at the former Shapiro STEM Academy & 1050 W.
18th Ave via an online survey open until 11:59 p.m. Monday, Sept. 28. The school will open for 2028-2029 for students from Perry Tipler and South Park Middle Schools.
🏛️ Government
State officials announced that new EV fast-charging stations will soon be built along highway corridors in communities including Reedsville, Random Lake, Fond du Lac, Lomira, and Chilton.
The grants, backed by $25 million from the federal National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure Program, will improve charging access statewide.
