EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ The Oshkosh school board approved a revised budget reduction plan that cuts over 40 positions to address a projected $5.5 million deficit for the 2026-27 school year. The narrow 4-3 vote retained or restructured some roles while eliminating others to balance the district's finances. WBAY
- ➤ A school pennant over 100 years old donated on Jan. 13 by UW-Oshkosh alum Jeff Rickert was added to the university archives — it is now on display at Polk Library’s third floor until the planned renovation creates prominent display cases. WTAQ
- ➤ The University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh held its first listening session yesterday from 4 to 6 p.m. at Becket’s Restaurant on Jackson St. in downtown Oshkosh to collect community feedback for its Oshkosh Infinite plan. WBAY
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Flu activity has surged in Winnebago County due to a new H3N2 variant, and hospitals report an increase in admissions since December + only about 30% of residents have been vaccinated. Health officials urge getting flu shots before the peak later this month. Oshkosh Northwestern
