BUSINESS NEWS

  • Oshkosh business leaders released a survey showing worker shortages, rising interest rates and inflation worries, and a 9% drop in companies meeting profit expectations in 2025; 83% expect better sales in 2026. The survey included CEOs, owners and managers from across the community.  FOX 11

CULTURE NEWS

  • Former DJ John VanEss revived radio station WKAU in his home by streaming classic hits from the 1960s, '70s and '80s online for Fox Cities listeners; he said the effort helped him recapture his spark after his wife's passing with support from friends Vern Schmitt and Jim Rammer.  WBAY

EDUCATION NEWS

  • On Friday, Feb. 6, UW chancellors received their first performance-based bonuses since the 2024 approval, with UW-Oshkosh chancellor Andrew Leavitt earning $45,677 even after he resigned, while colleagues received bonuses from $17,375 to $44,798 based on fall 2024-to-fall 2025 retention rates.  Oshkosh Northwestern

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development found 1,656 child labor and wage law violations by Cave Enterprises, which runs 105 Burger King locations including Oshkosh, after reviewing complaints from 2020-2025. The company must pay lost wages & fines and adopt immediate compliance with state labor laws.  WTAQ

REAL ESTATE NEWS

  • Realtor.com data shows that median home prices in Winnebago County fell from $260,000 to $251,000 in November — home sales dropped 20.9% compared to last November with single-family homes and townhomes also slowing. Local buyers and sellers face shifting market conditions.  Oshkosh Northwestern

  • The Otter Street Fishing Club Fisheree kicks off today at 10 a.m. on Lake Winnebago near Millers Bay—organizers expect about 100 racers and 1,000 spectators to enjoy returning ice racing with four-wheelers and dirt bikes, a pond hockey charity game, music, food, and raffles, with practice starting at 8 a.m.  FOX 11
