- ➤ Oshkosh Northwestern earned awards from the Better Newspaper Contest for its business, education and investigative reporting, as judges recognized its detailed local coverage. The honors were announced at an award banquet in downtown Madison on March 6. Oshkosh Northwestern
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Oshkosh Area School District named Cynthia Rettler as its new executive director of business services, replacing Drew Niehans who is retiring after five years in the role. Rettler, who will start July 1, will manage budgeting, forecasting, and benefits while helping implement planned school facility improvements. Oshkosh Northwestern
- ➤ Valley Christian School in Oshkosh will build a new high school campus at a 42-acre site off Fernau Avenue, with classes set to begin in fall 2027 + the project aims to ease overcrowding on its current campus. FOX 11
- ➤ Fox Valley Technical College hosted the 2026 Wisconsin ProStart Invitational on Thursday, where 13 culinary teams & 4 restaurant management teams from Neenah, Menasha, and Kimberly competed for a national spot while visitors toured the culinary labs. WBAY
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Large ice shoves have built along Lake Winnebago near local homes, quickly rising to 10-12 feet and drawing caution from residents who note the unusual proximity to houses. Experts say the ice will naturally recede with warmer weather (such events typically occur every 10 to 15 years). WBAY

- ➤ A state health report released yesterday shows Wisconsin’s childhood vaccination rates for children 24 months and younger fell by over 2% from last year to remain below 70%—the lowest in 12 years (rates have been declining since 2019 and stayed low since the pandemic began). WBAY
