They also clashed over voter ID rules and union laws as both outlined views that could shape the state’s highest court.

Wisconsin voters will decide on April 1 whether to add the voter ID law to the state constitution—which would make it harder to change in the future—even though the law will stay in place if voters do not approve the amendment.

Supporters say the law increases trust in elections while critics claim voter fraud is very rare and the change may confuse some voters.

PolitiFact Wisconsin found no evidence that Supreme Court candidate Susan Crawford would end school choice—her spokesperson said she has never taken a position to eliminate voucher programs.

Schimel’s campaign did not offer any statements or rulings from Crawford to support the claim.
