ECONOMY NEWS

  • Rising tensions in the Strait of Hormuz may push fertilizer prices higher for Wisconsin farmers since about half the world’s urea ships through the waterway + the American Fertilizer Institute warns that delays from Middle Eastern suppliers could affect local costs.  WBAY

EDUCATION NEWS

  • The Oshkosh Area School District is hosting a three-day summit at Menominee Elementary cafeteria to shape school priorities. Sessions run Tuesday, Apr. 28 and Wednesday, Apr. 29 from 5:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. and Saturday, May 2 from 8:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., with free food & childcare provided.  WTAQ

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Wisconsin agencies DATCP & DOR have issued guidance recommending businesses round down cash change to the nearest five cents after the Treasury ended penny production on Nov. 12, 2025. Businesses are urged to clearly post their rounding policies at points of sale to ensure fairness.  WTAQ
  • Winnebago County will resume outdoor warning siren tests every Saturday at noon starting March 28 through September 2026 (tests may be cancelled if severe weather is expected) and will also take part in a statewide mock Tornado Drill on April 16, reminding residents to seek shelter during potential severe weather.  FOX 11
  • USPS warned that winter storms may slow mail delivery but did not list any specific Wisconsin delays. The agency advised residents to keep walkways and mailbox areas clear & safe for timely service.  WTAQ
