GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Social Security Administration will require both beneficiaries and applicants to show ID in person starting March 31 to fight fraud; this change will force about 75,000 to 85,000 people to visit local offices each week (including those who cannot use the My Social Security online account) (to help curb fraudulent claims).  Oshkosh Northwestern
  • Residents are invited to meet the five fire chief finalists at an open house on March 31 from 5-7 p.m. at the Oshkosh Convention Center. An extensive interview process will begin on April 1 and the new fire chief is expected to start in May or June.  FOX 11
  • The Oshkosh Chamber will host a candidate forum on March 25 at Venture Project Studio at 210 N. Main St. where incumbent Jon Doemel and former Assembly minority leader Gordon Hintz will appear with a meet & greet at 7:30 a.m. followed by an hour-long forum at 8 a.m. moderated by Jonathan Krause.  Oshkosh Northwestern
