COMMUNITY NEWS
- ➤ After repeated evening behavior issues, the Oshkosh Public Library put in place a new rule Monday that requires unaccompanied minors to sign in after 6:30 p.m. Library staff said the measure will end with the 2024-25 school year except for approved programs. WTAQ
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Pauline Beyer pleaded not guilty Monday to calling in a bomb threat to a local synagogue and admitted making the call on January 29 to get help from the FBI—she is set to return to court on May 29 for a plea and sentencing hearing. FOX 11
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Kelly Skifstad has been hired as the new special education director for the Oshkosh Area School District and will start on July 1—she returns after working in the district from 2013 to 2023 with over 12 years of educational experience. Oshkosh Northwestern
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Today, the EPA is set to change wetland rules to follow the Supreme Court decision Sackett v. EPA—only wetlands next to federally protected water will keep their safeguards. The new rule may leave more than half the nation’s wetlands, including some in Wisconsin, unprotected and at risk from development that could hurt flood control, water quality and wildlife habitats. - ➤ Oshkosh is set to modernize parking by launching a digital permit system that links permits to vehicle license plates and lets drivers apply for, purchase and manage permits online—this new platform will replace paper permits and offer on-street options starting Monday with hourly parking on High Avenue and Osceola Street available beginning July 1.
