EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Manohar Singh will become UW-Oshkosh’s 12th chancellor on July 1, 2025 as he leaves his role as interim president at Western Connecticut State University (appointed in 2023) and prepares to lead the university amid budget challenges and academic restructuring. WTAQ
- ➤ Oshkosh Area School District said it has parted ways with Dean of Students Christopher Willems after he helped a school resource officer physically restrain a 13-year-old student on Jan. 10 at Vel Phillips Middle School. He was initially suspended for five days — later placed on paid administrative leave for the rest of the school year — and his contract will not be renewed following an internal review. - ➤ Today the Oshkosh Public Library requires anyone under 16 to check in with security after 6:30 p.m. Unaccompanied minors must show valid identification (school ID, state ID, driver's license, or library card) to help address safety concerns until the school year ends. WHBY
- ➤ At Tuesday's meeting — held at the Winnebago County courthouse at 6 p.m. — officials considered a resolution to keep the Barlow Planetarium at its current site and to transfer the Weis Earth Science Museum to Outagamie County while leaving other campus properties undecided. WBAY
