- ➤ A special ceremony was held Wednesday to honor distinguished alumni of the Oshkosh Area School District—Janette Fennell, an Oshkosh West graduate who founded Kids and Car Safety, was recognized for her work on trunk release mechanisms that have kept children safe since 2002. - ➤ Researchers and lawmakers in Wisconsin are working to make the state a hub for nuclear fusion research—this clean energy process uses hydrogen to create helium with no carbon emissions or long-lived radioactive waste. The University of Wisconsin-Madison and Realta Fusion built a small reactor in Stoughton and state representatives have introduced three bills to support fusion research, plan a nuclear power summit, and conduct a plant siting study with hearings expected next week. - ➤ Winnebago County approved a resolution to transfer the Weis Earth Science Museum to Outagamie County’s History Museum at the Castle while keeping the rest of the UW-Oshkosh Fox Cities campus for $1—Outagamie County will soon vote on the plan, which requires the museum to shrink by 2,000 square feet to fit its new space and may impact support for the Barlow Planetarium.
