CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Oshkosh police said a medium-sized, black female dog estimated to be 3 to 4 years old was found severely emaciated in a cage in a dumpster at an apartment complex in the 2100 block of Wisconsin Street around 12:50 p.m. Wednesday—police are treating the death as animal cruelty. WHBY
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ The Oshkosh Area School District will give away 1,000 keepsake bricks from the demolished Merrill school building at the Maintenance Building on S. Main Street on Tuesday, May 6 from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. and Wednesday, May 7 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m., limiting each family to one brick—if bricks remain after the second pickup, an extra date will be set. The district will also use other salvaged bricks to build a memorial corner honoring James Merrill, Henry Auler and Harold Schumerth. WTAQ
REAL ESTATE NEWS
- ➤ Contractors filed liens for $1.06-million against MK Lofts L-L-C for an apartment building in Oshkosh’s Sawdust District — another contractor filed a civil lawsuit over unpaid invoices. The building was converted from the former Miles Kimball building in the 800-block of South Main Street and opened for residency last year after the city granted $1.5-million in tax incremental financing.
