COMMUNITY NEWS

  • The Oshkosh Public Library reported positive results one week into its rule that requires minors entering after 6:30 p.m. to show an ID—this measure was started after disturbances including a fight that later involved police. Library Director Darryl Eschete said the rule is temporary and will be lifted by the end of the school year as the library works to keep the space welcoming for all.  FOX 11

  • FDI Insider named the Fox Cities Chamber the Most Impactful Chamber in Wisconsin on April 17th, following national awards such as National Chamber of the Year and a Wisconsin Innovation Award in 2024+ Chamber President and CEO Becky Bartoszek said the honor validates the chamber’s efforts to support local business growth. The accolade highlights the chamber’s commitment to partnering with small businesses and driving economic progress throughout the region.  WTAQ

CRIME NEWS

  • On Friday, an Oshkosh man allegedly fired a gun into a business on the 400 block of N. Main Street, injuring a man who was taken to the hospital and is expected to survive, and with help from the Winnebago County Sheriff’s Office police later arrested the 39-year-old suspect and charged him with attempted first degree intentional homicide.  WTAQ

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Oak's Candy Corner in Oshkosh said it may raise Easter candy prices because cocoa costs have increased though current prices are still the same as last year. Kevin McGee explained that a 10-percent tariff and rising global temperatures will push up cocoa prices in the future.  FOX 11

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Oshkosh veteran Russel Deiner was honored with a veteran’s high school diploma nearly 50 years after he left school to serve during the Vietnam War. His wife, Patty—who worked with the Wisconsin Disabled Veterans’ Organization, helped secure the diploma—said the achievement means he finally accomplished something important.  WBAY
