COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Community members in Omro, Oshkosh, and Winneconne donated over $49K in hygiene products today for the Help for the Homeless Hygiene Drive. The drive, led by The Family and coordinated by the Oshkosh Area United Way, delivered items such as soap, shampoo, and toothpaste to local partners.  Oshkosh Northwestern

BUSINESS NEWS

  • EAA has announced over 750 temporary jobs at AirVenture scheduled July 20-26 for retail, security, parking, registration, and bartending. Hiring events take place April 25, May 6, June 6, June 17, and June 22-24 at the EAA Aviation Museum on 3000 Poberezny Road.  WBAY

EDUCATION NEWS

  • The Oshkosh Area School District reports an extra $3.1 million deficit for 2026-27 after cutting 66 jobs in January; officials say no teacher cuts will occur and will consider future cost reductions (such as deferred maintenance and administrative changes) at a 6 p.m. board meeting Wednesday.  FOX 11
  • UW-Oshkosh’s 90.3 WRST-FM held a celebration Monday with station tours, giveaways, and a birthday cake to mark its 60th anniversary since its first broadcast on April 20, 1966. Students continue to use the station to share music, news, and sports.  FOX 11
  • A groundbreaking ceremony on Friday, Apr. 17 at Oakwood Elementary in Oshkosh marked the start of renovations with new academic wings, larger gyms, and air conditioning, and a similar event is planned for Franklin Elementary on May 8 (expanding capacity for up to 600 students).  WTAQ
  • The UW board (unanimously) extended its temporary test-optional policy for high school juniors graduating in spring 2027 on April 20, letting them apply without submitting test scores. Applications open Aug. 1, 2026 and the change gives researchers more time to study its effects.  Oshkosh Northwestern

  • Authorities highlight six invasive plant species to watch for in Wisconsin and urge residents to clean shoes + equipment to help prevent their spread, with special focus on lesser celandine and Japanese stiltgrass as part of early detection efforts across multiple counties.  Oshkosh Northwestern
