COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Winnebago Audubon is hosting free bird walks every Wednesday in May from 6 to 8 p.m. at local spots including Asylum Point Park and Heckrodt Wetland Reserve — the group also invites volunteers for its annual bird count on May 16.  Oshkosh Northwestern

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Taco Bell at 1140 S. Koeller Street closed after a fire in its attic on Monday; firefighters controlled the flames in 15 minutes & employees evacuated safely while damage is assessed before repairs and a reopening are planned.  FOX 11

EDUCATION NEWS

  • The Oshkosh Area School District invites residents to farewell tours of Shapiro STEM Academy on May 6 (5-7 p.m.) and May 9 (10 a.m.-noon) before its closure at the end of 2025-26; a new consolidated middle school is planned for the site.  Oshkosh Northwestern
  • The Oshkosh Area School District faces an extra $3.1 million deficit despite earlier job cuts and will not cut teachers. The board meets at 6 p.m. today to discuss cost-saving fixes + plans additional talks for April 30.  WTAQ

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Menasha officials warn water levels are rising and could cause localized flooding in the next day or two. The city is working with Winnebago County Emergency Management to deliver pre-filled sandbags to three Fox Street locations from mid-to-late today.  FOX 11

FINANCE NEWS

  • A lottery ticket bought at Stop N Go in Menasha won $100,000 in the All or Nothing game by matching no numbers in the April 18 drawing. The winner has 180 days to claim the prize in person or by mail at Wisconsin Lottery offices.  WBAY
