- ➤ Winnebago County reached an agreement with Wisconsin Entertainment Group to manage the theater and fieldhouse at the UW-O campus under a one-year lease, with two performances scheduled next week featuring local groups like Fox Valley Concert Band + Attic Theatre. Officials plan to announce further redevelopment steps soon. WBAY
- ➤ Tim Tebow will be the guest of honor at the charity golf event U.S. Venture Open on Wednesday, Aug. 12 — the event will raise funds to fight poverty in Northeast Wisconsin, and registration is now open for a special evening program. WBAY
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Historic snow, ice storms and floods from Blizzard Elsa and heavy rains have raised precipitation up to five times normal in parts of the area since March 1; however, Lake Michigan levels remain near normal (about three to four feet below recent records). FOX 11
- ➤ Oshkosh remains under a state of emergency as rising Fox River and Lake Winnebago waters cause minor flooding in low-lying areas; residents are urged to continue sandbagging and sorting debris while officials expect waters to recede today and tomorrow. Oshkosh Northwestern
- ➤ Heavy spring floods temporarily caused lake sturgeon to stray into flooded areas near Shiocton as they followed rising water for spawning. The fish returned to the main river channel as levels receded & the DNR continues to monitor the migration. Oshkosh Northwestern
