COMMUNITY NEWS

  • The Oshkosh YMCA will host its 10th Annual Kids Mud Run at the 20th Ave Y on Sunday, June 1—kids ages 4 to 16 will run a one mile course with 20 obstacles while youth ages 1 to 3 join a free Mini Mud Run. Proceeds will support the For All Financial Assistance Program and free entertainment, food trucks and a Foam Zone are planned for the event.  WBAY

CULTURE NEWS

  • On April 29, students in Fox Valley schools celebrated AAPI Heritage Month and the 50th anniversary of Hmong refugee resettlement by experiencing Hmong music during a cultural exchange event. Harvard-educated linguist Neng Thao performed at Neenah High School and showed how musical surrogate languages can mimic Hmong speech—using nine different instruments.  FOX 11

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Wisconsin joined 18 other states in a lawsuit filed in Massachusetts district court against the U.S. Department of Education and top officials for ending DEI programs — a move that could risk over $840 million in school funding. State Superintendent Jill Underly and Gov. Tony Evers vowed to fight measures that threaten funding — while critics argue that the certification paperwork simply ensures compliance with existing civil rights laws.  Oshkosh Northwestern

  • After years of delays, Wisconsin drivers have one week left to get a Real ID because starting May 7 every adult must use a TSA-approved ID for domestic flights—those who miss the deadline must choose another approved form of ID while their driver’s license stays valid for driving.  Oshkosh Northwestern
