COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Bank First will host a free document shredding event from 9 a.m. to noon on May 9 at 1159 N. Koeller St. Participants must bring a nonperishable food donation per bag to help area food pantries (businesses are asked not to participate).  Oshkosh Northwestern

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • At about 6 p.m. on Wednesday, the Oshkosh Fire Department rushed to a wood-frame house on Mt. Vernon Street where a fire killed multiple pets; no one was home when the flames started and the incident is still under investigation.  WBAY

CULTURE NEWS

  • The Communication Arts Center and Fieldhouse at the former UW Fox Cities campus in Menasha have reopened after a 10-month closure under a one-year partnership with Wisconsin Entertainment Group — the space will host a Lifest production on May 4 and spring events starting May 8.  Oshkosh Northwestern

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Green Bay closed its winter season with 65.7 inches of snow, 10 inches above normal, as Blizzard Elsa in mid-March boosted totals in Oshkosh and nearby cities + some areas recorded almost two feet extra snow. Snow in May is rare, with past winters only seeing light flurries.  FOX 11

REAL ESTATE NEWS

  • A five-story mixed-use development with 115 apartments and retail space opened at 740 S. Main Street in the Sawdust District on April 23. The complex revives a former industrial zone with amenities like a resort pool, fitness center, and a waterfront commercial space for dining + retail.  WTAQ
