- ➤ A fire on Mt. Vernon Street on Wednesday, April 29 killed several pets in an unoccupied two-story home in Oshkosh, with crews arriving at 5:54 p.m. and staying until 9:10 p.m. as the cause remains under investigation. Oshkosh Northwestern
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ On March 25 at Fox Valley Technical College, during an EMT training exercise, adjunct instructor Karl Arps suffered a heart attack and students promptly performed CPR and used an AED to restore his pulse in under five minutes; after open-heart surgery and a quick recovery, Arps plans to continue teaching. ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Budget delays led Wisconsin DNR to cut fish stocking by 11% this season, with muskies reduced by 70% and some hatcheries closed ahead of the May 2 fishing season. Oshkosh Northwestern
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Next week, the Oshkosh Public Library will start roof repairs to restore its iconic clay tile dome. Crews will remove and salvage the original tiles (CIP funding) while the library remains open for services. FOX 11
- ➤ Repairs will begin Monday, May 4 on the public library's iconic dome — crews will carefully remove and replace its 70-year-old materials beneath the clay tiles to protect the historic building from water damage while library operations continue. WBAY
