COMMUNITY NEWS
- ➤ Oshkosh police sergeant Sonny Gogo is being honored during AAPI Heritage Month for marking a 10-year milestone with the department and an 18-year law enforcement career. Originally from Guam, he celebrates his heritage with family-oriented values that enrich his service in the community. WBAY
- ➤ Winnebago Area Literacy Council won the Civic Visionary Award from UW-Oshkosh Whitburn Center and WisACT for its Immigration Learning Circles that began in 2025, drawing 150 attendees. The next session is set for 4:30 p.m. May 19 at its Learning Center and will feature attorney Molly Smiltneek discussing immigration. Oshkosh Northwestern

- ➤ Gray Media reached an agreement with DISH to restore WBAY and other local channels immediately, letting viewers once again access local news, weather and sports on their service. WBAY
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ B-29 Superfortress 'Doc' is set to join AirVenture Oshkosh this summer, with a display at Boeing Plaza from July 24-26 and flight experiences at Appleton International Airport from July 20-23. The fly-in runs July 20-26 at Wittman Regional Airport and features nine air shows. Oshkosh Northwestern
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ After the budget deficit doubled from $5.5M to $10.9M, the Oshkosh Area School District board denied superintendent Bryan Davis a 2.63% raise at an April 22 meeting — other district employees will receive their proposed increases effective this summer. Oshkosh Northwestern
- ➤ Shiocton School Board will hold a public hearing at Library Media Center on Monday, May 4 at 5:15 p.m. to discuss a DPI waiver request after eight school days were lost during a flood (April 15-24). FOX 11
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Northeast Wisconsin farmers installed drain tiles in their fields after a spring flood to help crops grow deeper. They used new technology to slope underground tubes so excess water drained away quickly and increased yield. FOX 11
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Next week, crews will repair the roof of the public library to preserve the historic clay tile dome and prevent water damage in Oshkosh. The project is funded by the city's Capital Improvement Program (CIP) and the building will remain open during repairs. WTAQ
