COMMUNITY NEWS

  • The Oshkosh Area Humane Society said last week an owner dropped off a crate with 2 adult cats and 8 kittens and left a dog tied to a bench outside the shelter overnight. The shelter said the unannounced drop off strains its capacity — it now asks that people call ahead so staff can be ready.  WBAY

CULTURE NEWS

  • The Weis Earth Science Museum is moving from the UW-Oshkosh Fox Cities campus to the History Museum at the Castle in Appleton—local officials and partners from Outagamie and Winnebago counties are supporting the move. The new exhibit will open in time for tourist season as the museum works with the Weis family, Miron Construction, the Fox Cities Visitor and Convention Bureau, and Lawrence University on future plans.  WBAY

EDUCATION NEWS

  • On May 14th, the Oshkosh Area School District's education foundation hosted its third annual gala and raised over $130,000 for school sports and athletic programs. Community members joined in by playing games + winning prizes to support active and healthy kids.  WBAY

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Outagamie County approved a resolution to transfer the 43-acre UW-Oshkosh Fox Cities campus to Winnebago County for $1—ending nearly 80 years of service. Winnebago County will soon plan the campus’s future and hold community listening sessions as they await formal approval—set for June 30.  WTAQ

HEALTH NEWS

  • After several serious car crashes since May 9 drove up demand, the Community Blood Center urgently needs blood donors — it sent 70 Type O units, 11 platelet units, and 60 plasma units to local hospitals.  We Are Green Bay
