- ➤ Phoenix-Aid from Oshkosh won the grand prize at the Wisconsin Governor’s Business Plan Contest for its nano-composite wound dressing that speeds healing and cuts costs. It presented its product at the Wisconsin Entrepreneurs’ Conference on June 4 and 5 and is undergoing animal studies in the U.S.—with approved human clinical trials planned in India. - ➤ The Community Blood Center urged donors to help with an urgent shortage of Type O blood and platelets—officials said donations were critical for surgeries, cancer treatments and emergencies. They encouraged eligible donors to book appointments at local centers including one in Oshkosh. WTAQ
- ➤ Winnebago County’s Overdose Fatality Review Team reported that overdose deaths dropped by 49%, falling from 47 in 2023 to 24 in 2024 — most victims were between 35 and 64 — and noted that gaps in mental health care and drug abuse treatment remain as 12 pilot projects are launched to help prevent future overdoses. - ➤ Oshkosh native Franki Moscato is launching a new campaign with her foundation — inviting Wisconsin students in grades six through 12 to create a PSA to fight teen suicide. Applicants may submit a script and 60-second video by November 1 — with the winning entry set to air on WBAY.com. WBAY
