EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ OASD Assistant Superintendent Julie Conrad-Peters, who served 33 years in Oshkosh, accepted an offer to lead the Lake Wales Charter School System in Florida after a special board meeting on June 5. Her new contract will be voted on June 16 and the role will begin on July 1 — a move that brings her closer to family while she replaces the dismissed superintendent. Oshkosh Northwestern
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Community leaders dedicated a portion of Highway 21 as a Purple Heart Highway on Saturday, June 7 when Roy Rogers—a veteran injured in Vietnam who earned the Purple Heart—led the ceremony in Oshkosh with support from county officials and the Military Order of the Purple Heart. FOX 11
- ➤ A portion of Route 21 was named Purple Heart Highway to honor veterans hurt or killed during service. It stretches from Oshkosh to the west side of the state, and Marine veteran Roy Rogers spent over six months urging the change — local groups will host viola drives in Oshkosh in July and in Fond du Lac in September.
