- ➤ Oshkosh police executed a major drug bust on Monday when the Lake Winnebago MEG Unit raided two homes—one in Oshkosh and one in Nekimi—finding more than a pound and a half of meth and cash; a 49-year-old man was taken into custody and faces pending charges. WHBY
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Winnebago County held a public forum in Menasha on Wednesday to get residents' suggestions on how to redevelop the UW-Oshkosh Fox Cities campus—some assets may stay while others could be repurposed for housing or more revenue. The county will take control on Tuesday, July 1, complete campus assessments, host tours and issue an RFP to cover roughly $800,000 in annual maintenance costs with help from a $2 million state grant. - ➤ A bipartisan bill in the Assembly on June 24 removed the $48,000 income cap so more families caring for someone with Alzheimer’s could get support. It passed the Senate by voice vote on June 18 and is now headed to the governor’s desk — it has an estimated cost of $3.05M. Oshkosh Northwestern
- ➤ Oshkosh might stop ambulance service for far-out parts of Winnebago County because plans to hire eight firefighter/paramedics for a fourth ambulance did not get enough interest. City manager Rebecca Grill said the three crews now will focus on city needs—leaving rural areas with less coverage. WHBY
