CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Oshkosh police held 19-year-old Daunte Riley without a court appearance on Tuesday because of a probation hold and a judge’s probable cause order—police have requested a first-degree intentional homicide charge for his role in a fatal stabbing at Menominee Park. FOX 11
- ➤ Daunte Riley, 19, remains held under a probation hold after he fatally stabbed a man at Menominee Park on Saturday night—he will not appear in court Tuesday and his initial hearing is unscheduled. WTAQ
- ➤ Marcus M. Norfleet, 39, was arrested after shooting a bartender at Oblio’s Bar on April 18 and faces five charges including attempted first-degree intentional homicide, is held on a $1 million bond, and will have a plea hearing Oct. 16 in Winnebago County Circuit Court (he had a BAC of 0.17% and was subdued with stun gun shots). EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Universities of Wisconsin President Jay Rothman announced on Tuesday that he proposed raising tuition for resident undergraduates by up to 5% for the 2025-26 school year. The plan offers a uniform 4% increase with an optional extra 1% for most schools, including a 5.8% target at UW-River Falls, and the Board of Regents will vote on it on July 10. WBAY
- ➤ Undergraduate tuition across the Universities of Wisconsin is set to rise up to 5% for the upcoming academic year—campuses will see a base increase of 4% with an optional extra 1% adopted by all universities except Green Bay, and the Board of Regents will review the proposal Thursday. WTAQ

- ➤ The Oshkosh City Council voted Tuesday night to ask the governor, state legislators, and League of Wisconsin Municipalities to explore a municipal sales tax after a six-to-one vote that did not implement any change. Council member DJ Nichols said rising costs and reliance on property taxes drove the move—council members will only consider a tax if it helps lower or offset property taxes. WBAY
- ➤ Governor Tony Evers visited Oshkosh yesterday and highlighted a $137 million investment to renovate the Polk Library at UW-Oshkosh, which is in poor condition. He signed the 2025-27 Biennial Budget that provided over $250 million for the UW System plus nearly $1.2 billion for capital building projects statewide. We Are Green Bay
- ➤ Neenah-Menasha Fire Rescue received $200,000 in state funding to improve its Training Grounds at Station #13. The project will add a new NFPA-compliant training tower and expanded fireground infrastructure — construction is expected to begin later this year. WBAY
