- ➤ Nearly 5,000 volunteers work at the EAA AirVenture in Oshkosh this week by handling flight control, event operations and food service. Organizer Michel Bryson said volunteers from across the globe — giving up vacation time — help run the event with a true family spirit — a chosen reunion that makes the week possible. - ➤ Weather forecasts call for heat, humidity, and smoke from Canadian wildfires in Oshkosh this weekend with a slight chance of showers on Saturday after 1 p.m. Today, EAA AirVenture Oshkosh at Wittman Regional Airport features an airshow at 2:15 p.m. and a night show at 8 p.m.—events run daily through July 27. - ➤ A vintage Pepsi-Cola plane was on display at EAA AirVenture yesterday in Oshkosh — the first Stinson Gullwing built in 1936 was restored with new fabric and hand-painted details to match its original look. The plane, once used for VIP transport by Pepsi-Cola and later owned by the first U.S. female flight instructor, took its first flight in almost 70 years last summer. FOX 11

- ➤ The deadline to apply for a sturgeon spearing tag for the Upriver Lakes season is Aug. 1 and applicants can submit their forms online or at any license sales location—those chosen will be notified by Oct. 1 and will then be able to buy a spearing license before the season begins on Feb. 14. This process uses a drawing that gives priority based on preference points, with group applications counted by the lowest member’s score. FOX 11
