COMMUNITY NEWS

  • EAA AirVenture ended with about 704,000 visitors in Oshkosh, breaking last year’s record and drawing over 10,000 aircraft to Wittman Regional Airport. Officials reported a local economic impact of $257 million — and they will soon start planning next year’s celebration based on record numbers in camping, exhibitors and media engagement.  WTAQ
  • The Winnebago County Fair opened Wednesday at Sunnyview Expo Center in Oshkosh and will run through Sunday—tickets cost $12 in advance and $15 at the gate with gates opening at 9 a.m.  WBAY

CULTURE NEWS

  • Winnebago County took over the Barlow Planetarium and prepared it to reopen on Friday after a two-month closure caused by its transition to county ownership. The facility will only accept cash and will feature a portable planetarium at the county fair along with programs like Laser Prince! and Family Astronomy Night—bringing new science shows for locals.  FOX 11

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The overpass at Vandenbroek Road across I-41 in Little Chute reopened on July 30 after spring work widened its base to fit the expanded highway and added a bike lane—cement barrier divides the sidewalk from the road.  FOX 11
  • City officials said that the $8 million grant for the planned pedestrian bridge over I-41 is on hold because the U.S. Department of Transportation is reviewing the grant agreements due to shifted priorities in the new administration+ the project, still in its conceptual phase, faces an eight to nine month delay yet is expected to be completed in three to five years to improve pedestrian safety.  WTAQ

  • High Noon has issued a recall on Beach Variety packs mislabeled as sparkling blue razz Celsius Astro Vibe energy drinks that actually contain vodka seltzer — the error came from a shared packaging supplier—and consumers in Wisconsin should check the lot codes and dispose of any affected products.  We Are Green Bay
