GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Wisconsin DOT will hold an online public meeting at 4 p.m. on Aug. 6 to explain planned work along a 7.1-mile section of US 45 near Oshkosh. Construction will begin on Aug. 18 with a road closure until Aug. 22—completion is expected by early November. Oshkosh Northwestern
- ➤ After the state budget allowed retirees to exempt up to $24,000 in income, nearly 60 locals shared mixed views on the tax cut — more than half welcomed the change while some warned it would shift tax burdens to younger families. - ➤ Victim service providers in Northeast Wisconsin have united in the Victim Services Partnership — an alliance of seven agencies — to raise $3 million after state funds dropped from over $40 million to about $13 million, putting essential support services like shelter and advocacy at risk.
