CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Two men with outstanding warrants were arrested Tuesday after community tips led investigators from the Oshkosh Police Department’s vice and narcotics unit to the 700 block of West 9th Avenue—one a 48-year-old taken in on felony warrants and one a 38-year-old taken in on a probation warrant. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The Fox Valley Veterans Affairs clinic held a ceremony Tuesday morning to honor WWII veteran John H Bradley, whose role in the Battle of Iwo Jima won him the Navy Cross. The clinic unveiled a new display—featuring a plaque, photos, and artifacts—to mark the 80th anniversary of the war's end with family members in attendance. FOX 11
- ➤ Oshkosh Main Street bridge on U.S. 45 will close when work begins Sept. 2; the 7-month, $6 million construction project will upgrade its electrical, mechanical, hydraulic and structural systems. Officials said drivers and pedestrians must use a detour via 9th, Oregon and Jackson — a measure set to keep local business, emergency access and community travel flowing — as repairs progress. - ➤ After emergencies over the weekend, the Community Blood Center reported in its Appleton lab on Aug. 5 that supplies of type O blood — including O-negative blood usable for any patient — were critically low. The center urged volunteer donors to help local hospital patients. FOX 11
- ➤ A Fox Valley blood center said its type O blood supply is very low after weekend emergencies, with only one-third of the needed blood in stock as of Monday morning—raising concerns for local hospitals. President John Hagins urged donors to schedule appointments to help replace the life-saving O-negative blood, which can be used for any patient—ensuring critical supplies for upcoming treatments.
