COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Oshkosh Area Humane Society will host its annual Walk for the Animals on Sept. 13. The event runs from 8:30—11:30 a.m. at the Sunnyview Expo Center’s Barn E and offers games, music, prizes, and pledge rewards to help raise $65,000 for medical care for over 3,200 animals.  Oshkosh Northwestern

CRIME NEWS

  • Oshkosh police arrested a 50-year-old man from Michigan on Friday after responding to a call about a gun firing in a Jackson Street home, and a later search found a loaded handgun—he now faces charges for recklessly endangering safety, being a felon in possession of a firearm and narcotics possession.  WHBY

EDUCATION NEWS

  • UW-Oshkosh's new chancellor Manohar Singh attended Titan Fest on Tuesday, September 2 and spoke with incoming students about their academic and financial needs. He said enrollment had stabilized with graduate programs rising 13% and transfer students up 5% while the school will add women's flag football in the spring—he expects a larger freshman class later.  FOX 11

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • A $6 million renovation of the U.S. 45 bridge on Main Street began Tuesday as crews closed the bridge for seven months to repair and upgrade its structure. Detour routes for vehicles and pedestrians have been set using 9th Avenue, Oregon Street and Jackson Street—work will finish in April 2026.  WTAQ

SPORTS NEWS

  • Tuesday marked the release of the Wisconsin Herd's 2025-26 season schedule; the team will start on the road on Nov. 8 and host its home opener on Nov. 11 at Oshkosh Arena. The schedule includes 24 games at Oshkosh Arena — with a 14-game Tip-Off Tournament and a 36-game regular season leading to playoffs—and season tickets are available now.  FOX 11
