Oshkosh police investigated juveniles displaying a fake gun near Oshkosh West High School, arriving at Skate Park at 1570 Taft Ave. at 11:40 a.m. Friday and referring four juveniles for criminal charges after finding the weapon was a BB gun — a replica that looked real.

Brooks Road at U.S. 45 in Oshkosh will close for about one month starting Sept.

15 for a $950,000 road works project that replaces a deteriorating retaining wall on the overpass. U.S. 45 will have lane and shoulder closures during the project which will extend the road's life and lower future maintenance costs.

Nine Winnebago County communities formed an ambulance district to partner with Lifestar for new ambulance service starting next year after Oshkosh raised rates and could not meet staffing needs — local officials said the new service will cost about $40 per person and may have varied response times. The decision came as a direct response to higher rates and limited resources with the current provider.

On Monday, construction workers across the country, including in northeast Wisconsin, paused work to honor suicide victims as part of National Suicide Awareness Month—reflecting on the high suicide risk in the industry.
