- ➤ The Oshkosh Public Library opened at noon on Sept.15 while glass walls were installed amid renovations—staff reported there were loud noises and limited access to some materials until the work is finished on Sept.26. WBAY
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ UW-Oshkosh’s third annual Titans Day of Giving raised $150,000 by Monday—exceeding its $100,000 goal to fund scholarships, academic programs, athletics and the Titan Emergency Fund to help students cover short-term expenses. FOX 11
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Gov. Tony Evers signed an executive order on Monday to protect access to COVID-19 vaccines—state health officials will soon issue their own guidance to clear up confusion from new federal restrictions. Oshkosh Northwestern
- ➤ A new plan from Pale Blue Dot recommends installing solar panels on Oshkosh city buildings—saving $323,000 a year as urban planner Ted Redmond said the measures are expected soon. WHBY
- ➤ The Town of Holland disputes Brown County's plan to use contaminated soils at the southern landfill at 1258 Mill Road and has filed a notice of claim—prompting a request for the DNR to hold a public hearing so residents can share their concerns. The town is also upset that the county may not pay the required tipping fees. WTAQ
- ➤ After a year of construction, part of the new Northland Avenue interchange for I-41 opened Monday night to help ease Tuesday morning’s commute — the northbound ramps are now in use while the southbound portion will open later this fall. WBAY
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Common Ground Health Care Cooperative notified customers in 11 counties—including Outagamie and Winnebago—that it will stop offering coverage next year due to rising health care costs, and affected members must choose new plans during open enrollment beginning November 1. This change will impact nearly 7,000 customers who rely on the Affordable Care Act marketplace for their insurance. WBAY
