- ➤ Paper industry leaders met in Neenah on September 16 to talk about innovation—ideas that could change the Fox Valley paper industry. Students joined the meeting to learn how these changes may boost the local economy. FOX 11
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ The Titans Day of Giving raised a record-breaking $198,389 on Sept. 12 at UW Oshkosh—463 donors helped surpass the $150,000 goal by over $48,000. The funds will support scholarships and academic programs at the university. WBAY
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Experts said early fall is one of the best times to plant grass in Northeast Wisconsin since cool nights and warm soil help seeds grow. Homeowners who planted on Sept. 16 will avoid extra summer work + may see stronger lawns before winter. FOX 11
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ NASA will return to EAA AirVenture Oshkosh in 2026—its absence in 2025 was due to federal budget uncertainty. The space agency has missed the event only twice in the last 50 years and plans to offer its popular on-site displays next year. Oshkosh Northwestern
- ➤ Amtrak's I-41 Thruway bus service has provided two daily round trips and eight stops from Green Bay to Milwaukee since 2019—state officials said it will end Oct. 1 after the state failed to renew its contract amid funding gaps in the 2025-27 biennial budget. Oshkosh Northwestern
- ➤ The Winnebago County Board met Tuesday night to consider drafting an ordinance for a 0.5% countywide sales tax — the board expected to have the proposal ready for discussion in November to help stabilize county finances. WBAY
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Gov. Evers signed an order that lets anyone age 6 months and older get the updated COVID vaccine without a prescription. State officials issued a standing order on Sept. 16—allowing local pharmacies to offer the shot without the earlier age restrictions. Oshkosh Northwestern
