COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Greater Oshkosh Healthy Neighborhoods purchased a home at 135 Church Ave.—They will use the space as an office for staff, community events, and three one-bedroom units for workforce housing, reinforcing their effort to improve local neighborhoods.  Oshkosh Northwestern
  • On Wednesday, hundreds of volunteers packed 47,000 pounds of rice at the 8th annual Feed The Body, Feed The Soul event—organized by Oshkosh Corporation and Feeding America Eastern Wisconsin. The event helped restock local food pantries with supplies for those facing food insecurity—providing support for up to 6 months.  WBAY
  • Oshkosh YMCA will host free fitness, wellness and social events for adults 55 and older from Sept. 22–26 at its 20th Avenue and Downtown locations — some activities require pre-registration while others are open to all, including group exercise, a history walk, and a community resource fair.  Oshkosh Northwestern
  • More than 1,000 volunteers from Oshkosh Corporation packaged 252,000 pounds of rice on September 18 during the twelve hour Feed the Body, Feed the Soul event—an effort organized with Feeding America Eastern Wisconsin to fight food insecurity.  FOX 11

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Microsoft nears completion of its so-called world’s most powerful AI datacenter in Mount Pleasant — and will build a second similar facility in Racine County set to operate by the end of 2028. The project involves a $7 billion investment that will use NVIDIA processors and a closed-loop liquid cooling system to support advanced AI work.  WBAY

ECONOMY NEWS

  • On September 18th, a ribbon cutting marked the opening of the Oshkosh Marriott Waterfront Hotel and Convention Center at 1 N. Main Street downtown after over a year of renovations that closed its operations. Local leaders said the 176-room hotel with a new restaurant Anchor and Port will boost downtown business and enhance the city’s riverfront.  FOX 11

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Today, the DNR is considering new measures to stop the invasive round goby from establishing in the Winnebago System — plans that include increased monitoring and a targeted chemical treatment in a contained area. The agency urges local anglers to kill and report any suspected round gobies at the Oshkosh service center and noted that fish found below the Neenah or Menasha dams do not need to be reported.  WBAY

SPORTS NEWS

  • The Village of Kimberly invested in trail and roadway improvements to fix safety issues for the upcoming Community First Fox Cities Marathon Weekend presented by Miron Construction—wider roadways, new sidewalks, bike lanes, and a paved trail under Highway N will boost runner safety. Marathon organizers said the enhancements, part of a year of planning, will help athletes reach the finish line with ease.  WBAY
