Good morning, Oshkosh. Here's your local news at a glance for Saturday, the 29th of November.

COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Families visited Darboy Community Park on Friday for the 6th-annual Fox Cities Festival of Lights—where new trails, holiday light features, and a Santa visit with free pictures set the scene for the season. Organizers said the event required around 100 volunteers and strong support from local sponsors like Fox Communities Credit Union and TWL Powersports.  WBAY
  • Families went to the EAA grounds on November 28 for the Oshkosh Celebration of Lights where about 2 million lights shone on more than two miles of paths featuring both new and archived displays. Event manager Rick Helms said community food pantries were staffed on the grounds through Christmas to collect extra non-perishable items for those in need.  WBAY

BUSINESS NEWS

  • A Neenah Christmas tree retailer began its 50th season on Friday—just before Winter Storm Beau brings snow—as local families gathered in a busy yard to pick trees. Co-owner Sue Schroeder—whose trees once adorned the White House and governor’s conference room—said the post-Thanksgiving period typically marks the busiest days of the season.  FOX 11
  • Shoppers in northeast Wisconsin braved sub-freezing temperatures and long lines at Bay Park Square Mall on Black Friday — with Kohl’s opening at 5 a.m. while many noted the crowds were lighter than in past years. Family traditions remained strong as shoppers balanced early store visits with a shift toward online deals.  WBAY
