- ➤ The Oshkosh Fire Department is hosting its 27th annual Holiday Food and Toy Drive through Dec. 12. Firefighters collect non-perishable food, new toys and cash donations at fire stations to benefit Salvation Army community programs. Oshkosh Northwestern
ECONOMY NEWS
- ➤ Gas prices in the Midwest dropped to an average of $2.74 per gallon on Monday, falling 9 cents from last week. According to EIA data, prices ranged from $2.74 to $3.10 this past year (8.2% below the national average). Oshkosh Northwestern
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Oshkosh reached an agreement with the local Humane Society (OAHS) to provide shelter, care and adoption services for stray animals from Jan. 1, 2026 to Dec. 31, 2028. The deal includes a fee of $50,000 for the first 500 animals and funds for additional animals as per the approved budget. WBAY
- ➤ The Wisconsin DNR launched its online tool (Be Well Informed) to help well owners interpret drinking water test results and learn how to fix quality issues. It was developed in partnership with UW-Madison and state health agencies. FOX 11
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Although extreme cold is here, experts say lakes remain unsafe for ice fishing because ice thickness varies (underwater springs and currents hidden beneath), and Bill Lodi advises anglers to wait a few more days before trying the ice, with some planning outings for the weekend. FOX 11
- ➤ FDA issued two recalls in Wisconsin as Great Lakes Cheese Co withdrew shredded cheeses for potential metal fragments (and Ambriola recalled Pecorino Romano due to listeria risk); retailers include Walmart, Publix, and Aldi, and consumers are urged to check their refrigerators. FOX 11

- ➤ Froedtert ThedaCare is building 56 townhouses for medical residents on the former Roosevelt Elementary School site at 1st Street + E. Forest Avenue near ThedaCare Medical Center-Neenah. The first phase began in October and will finish in summer, with phase two set to start in fall. FOX 11
